"Inside Out Project"
The first Inside Out Project to take place in California through French artist JR's internationally renowned "Inside Out Project." I gave cameras to my friends who live on the street in my inner-city neighborhood and ask that they take pictures of their neighbors. These are their photos of the neighbors, friends, and informal network of ties that build the community of homeless individuals in San Francisco. I invited the homeless photographers and people who had been supportive of my art and projects, with the homeless, to all meet for the first time and create this mural together. Blue, my best friend, and Blues musician played harmonica as we saw the mural come together. This project was documented in photos as well as in videos. Clips of this project and my narration describing the idea behind it appear in the HBO special "38mm" which documented the launch of JR's "Inside Out Project" around the world.
