It All Starts Here
This ongoing body of artwork explores the complex connections between social power structures, perceptions of divinity, and the manipulation of nature. Through my paintings, I delve into the intersection of mythology, technology, and ecological change, ultimately visualizing the critical juncture at which our species finds itself.
By using artificial intelligence to blend natural and A.I.-generated faces, my paintings challenge viewers to consider the blending of our current world with a future in which discerning between natural and artificial will be impossible. This process inspires thought and contemplation on the role of technology in our lives and the impact it has on our understanding of the world around us.
Furthermore, I use flowers as a metaphor for the entanglement of humans and non-human nature amidst artificial selection, highlighting ecology's entangled history with divinity and myth-making. Humans have long used the manipulation of nature to assert power with lasting effects on our environment.
Ultimately, my paintings reflect on the complex histories and environments we find ourselves embedded in, pushing towards an uncertain future where humanity's well-being depends upon confronting the creative and destructive nature within. As we approach an unprecedented era, this work encourages introspection and contemplation on our perceptions of reality, our internal nature, our interactions with the environment, and the transformation of power structures.
